Chipset: PCF8574 I/O Expander Interface: I2C (2-wire communication) Compatible LCD: 1602 (16×2) and 2004 (20×4) LCD Operating Voltage: 2.5V – 6V Default I2C Address: 0x27 or 0x3F Adjustable Contrast: Onboard Potentiometer Backlight Control: Jumper Enabled Communication Pins: VCC, GND, SDA, SCL
The I2C Module for 1602/2004 LCD is an interface adapter that allows character LCD displays to communicate with microcontrollers using the I2C communication protocol. Normally, a 16×2 or 20×4 LCD requires up to 6–8 GPIO pins, but this module reduces the connection to only two data lines (SDA and SCL) along with power and ground.
The module uses the PCF8574 I/O expander chip, which converts I2C serial data into the parallel signals required by standard HD44780-based LCD displays. This makes it ideal for projects where microcontroller pins are limited.
It includes a blue potentiometer that allows users to adjust the LCD contrast easily. A backlight jumper is also provided to enable or disable the LCD backlight. The module supports multiple devices on the same I2C bus by configuring address pins (A0, A1, A2).
This module is widely used in Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, STM32, and other embedded system projects for displaying sensor data, menus, and messages
